Household Appliance Short Power Cord Purpose

Why household electrical items use a short power cord?

Answer: A short power-supply cord us provided to reduce risks of injuring yourself from becoming entangled in or tripping over longer cord. 

Longer extension cords are available and may be used if you exercise caution during use. If a longer cord is used please note the following: –

  • The marked standard electrical rating suitable for all must all electrical household appliances the extension cord should be at least 13A, 125V and could handle up to 1625W.
  • The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter top of tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over accidentally.
