How to use a Pressure Cooker?

1.   To use a pressure cooker for the first time, please add some edible oil to the top rim of the pot for easy initial opening and closing.

2.   The amount of food and water put in the cooker cannot exceed 2/3 of the pressure cooker volume, water or soup cannot be less than 200ml.

3.   Always look through the exhaust pipe to make certain that it is clear before closing the cover, safety valve, and pressure indicating valve should be in good order and indicating valve at the dropping position.

4.   Put the cover on the cooker; turn the upper handle of the cover clockwise to the lower handle in full position. At this moment, the pushing plate moves to a working position, and the indicating valve is completed.

5. Place the pressure limiting valve on the exhaust pipe.

6.   After the cover has been closed properly, cooking can commence with the fire on the stove set to HIGH. Some steam may escape from the exhaust pipe which is normal. Afterward, indicating valve rod will rise up and remain in the up position while the steam escapes from the exhaust pipe with some noise. You can adjust the gauge on the stove to LOW to reduce the temperature until cooking is completed.

7.   Reduce pressure after cooking is completed. Set the pressure cooker aside to cool until pressure is completely reduced. If you want to cool the pressure cooker faster put it under a running water faucet. Pour cold water over it or place it in a pan of cold water until pressure is completely reduced. Note: Pressure is completely reduced when the pressure indicating value has dropped. If the pressure-indicating valve remains in its raised position there may still be pressure inside the pressure cooker. Continue to cool until the pressure indicating value drops. After pressure has been completely reduced, remove the pressure limiting valve. Always remove the pressure limiting valve before opening the cover.

8.  When there is no steam escaping and the indicating valve rod has dropped, the rod plate should be pushed to the end by hand as per the arrow direction. Open the cover in a counterclockwise direction. If the indicating valve has not dropped that means there is some pressure inside the cooker reminding. At this moment the pressure connecting the device is effective to ensure safety and the cover cannot be opened. Do not try to open it by force; just press the indicating valve downwards with a steady non-conductive thin device example: a chopstick, let the remaining steam escape completely, and then open the cover.

9.   Maintenance of blockade guard: In order to ensure the clear hole or the blockade guard and hygiene of the cooker, the blockade guard should be washed after each use. First, turn the blockade guard anti-clockwise to approx. 60% take it out and then wash it. After washing, put it back clockwise.

Please pay attention to the following guidelines listed below:

Precautions/ Safety when using a Pressure Cooker:

1.  Do not open the pressure cooker forcibly when the indicating valve has not dropped.

2.   In case the external pipe was blocked during the cooking process, the pressure must be reduced by forced cooling, then open the cover and clear the steam escaping hole, it can be used again.

3.  If the cooker is not in use for a long time, the pushing plate must be checked before putting it into use.

4.  In order to ensure safety when the fusible plate breaks, it must not be replaced by another metal plate.

5.  While in the operation of cooking, do not take out the pressure limiting valve; do not put any weight on it or use others instead.

6.   In order to ensure safety, never use any metal tensile ring to increase sealing.

7.  Do not use the air escaping method to lower the pressure when soup or porridge is cooked.

8. When in operation, avoid hitting the cooker to ensure steam leakage does not occur due to deformation of the cooker body and cover.
