Description
Contact Cement Adhesive, 60g
60g tube of Contact Cement, a multi-purpose adhesive designed for permanent, high-strength bonds. This “Fast Acting” formula is specifically designed to bond on contact, eliminating the need for long-term clamping.
- Usage: Provides fast-acting, strong, and water-resistant bonds.
- Application: Suitable for bonding wood, leather, metal, rubber, and laminates.
- Features: Features a self-piercing cap and requires no clamping.
- Safety: Keep out of reach of children and use in a well-ventilated area.
Key Features
- Strong & Permanent: Provides a durable, highly effective bond once cured.
- Water Resistant: Suitable for repairs that may be exposed to moisture.
- No Clamping Required: Because it bonds immediately when two surfaces meet, you don’t need to hold pieces together with clamps.
- Self-Piercing Cap: The tube includes a cap designed to easily open the sealed nozzle.
This adhesive is versatile and works on both porous and non-porous surfaces, including:
- Materials: Wood, rubber, leather, metal, tiles, glass, and laminates (like Formica).
- Projects: Shoe repairs (like fixing loose soles), furniture edge banding, countertop laminates, and various DIY craft projects.
How to Use
Unlike standard white glue, contact cement requires a “wait and bond” method for best results:
- Prepare: Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of oil. Roughening smooth surfaces with fine sandpaper can improve the bond.
- Apply: Apply a thin, even coat to both surfaces you want to join.
- Wait: Let the adhesive sit for approximately 5–15 minutes until it is “tacky” but dry to the touch (it shouldn’t transfer to your finger).
- Join: Carefully align the parts and press them firmly together. Since it bonds instantly, you usually only have one chance to position them correctly.
- Cure: While the bond is immediate, it is recommended to wait 24 hours before using the repaired object for maximum strength.
Contact cement is flammable and toxic; use only as directed on the packaging.
